3.2b CHEM 121 + CHEM 123

Students who are placed in BMEG will need to take CHEM 121 and CHEM 123. CHEM 154 is not accepted for credits for our program.

Registration Notes:

    • Students should take CHEM 121 and CHEM 123 in the Summer Terms between Year 2 and Year 3. These courses are pre-requisites for Year 3 courses (Term 1: CHEM 233 and CHEM 235; Term 2: BIOC 202).
    • We have guaranteed seats for the Summer Terms. We DO NOT have seats for Winter terms (and these CHEM courses will conflict with Core Courses). Under extenuating circumstances and Varsity students may receive assistance to find seats for the Winter term (upon CHEM approval).
    • Please note that BMEG students cannot self-register for CHEM 121 and CHEM 123.

Process:

Before summer registration starts, SBME Student Services will send an email to students who still need to take the CHEM 121 and CHEM 123 and will ask them to fill out a survey form to express intent to register. Please fill out the form in time if you need the courses in the summer.

We will send the list to Chemistry Department and they will assist with student registration.

IMPORTANT:

      • Students will be registered for CHEM 121 and WAITLISTED for CHEM 123 until they have passed CHEM 121. This is how the Chemistry department registers students. If you filled in the survey from our office, you will have priority in CHEM 123.
      • Please make sure to make room for CHEM 121 or CHEM 123, as Chemistry Department will not be able to register you if this would create a conflict or if it will exceed your credit limit (12 credits in total in the summer).

Students on Loans:

If the "summer waitlist" affects your course load requirement for student loans, there is a work around. Please register for other courses to increase your "summer registration" load, and remember to drop them before the "add/drop" deadline. Please add this to your calendar, so you do not forget it.
