Practice Midterms and Finals (midterm 1)
Here is where I will put old midterms and finals for you to practice on.
First Midterm details:
The first midterm will take place in class Wednesday, February 12th. Calculators will not be allowed. The midterm is closed book with no formula sheet.
Topics for the first midterm: Vector valued functions of one variable: parameterized curves and particles in motion. Arc-length of a curve, reparameterization by arc-length. Curvature of a curve, principle normal vector. Velocity, speed, acceleration. Tangential and normal components of acceleration. Using vector calculus to analyze Newton's equations of motion in various settings. Vector fields in the plane and three space. Integrals of functions over a curve with respect to arc-length. Since there is no formula sheet allowed or provided, you should know the various formulas needed to do the problems.
