Essay 1: Read Sample Essay

When you read a sample essay below: 

  1. If possible, print the essay. 
  2. Examine the title first. If the given essay is a longer essay, you may skim to read the first few and last few paragraphs of the sample essay to get a sense of the essay. 
  3. Then, read the entire essay through to get the big picture of the essay. This time, you may mark on the essay, but hold back on writing comments until the second read-through. It will help you focus on major flaws of the essay and avoid nitpicking.   
  4. Re-read the marked passages and make a note on the essay.
