Purpose of Home Page

The course home page is not only the first impression of the course, but serves the purpose to:

• provide a general introduction to the course and who the instructor is
• directions on how/where to start the course
• provide help or other important resources for student success

 

Proposed changes from the current ETS template are:

• Use a static home page with some standardized areas:
  • Top: Banner area with faculty logo, department/program area,  instructor name and email
  • Bottom: Help information and links
  • Language to direct students to the linked Canvas course syllabus page,  "Before you begin the course, please review the Course Syllabus carefully".
• For some dynamic content enable 2-3 recent announcements in the course settings.
