Optional: Finding French Resources for Inquiry

Finding Research in French

Although most of the research that you will find in Education databases (ERIC, Education Source, Teacher Reference Centre, etc.) has been published in English, it is still possible to find French-written research in these places. You can apply the French filter under "Language," which you will find to the left of your search results (as demonstrated in the image below).

Databases for French Scholarship

You may also wish to spend some time searching in databases for French scholarship. Although there are not any databases specifically for Education research published in French, there are a few French databases for the Humanities & Social Sciences as a whole in which you will find Education research. These include:

Érudit

Here you'll find Canadian humanities & social sciences and natural science research, published by Université de Montréal, the Université Laval, and the Université du Québec à Montréal

Repère

This database is multidisciplinary and is considered the most comprehensive source for journal articles in French, though it is neither Education-specific, nor Canadian.

CAIRN

CAIRN is primarily a source for European research, but does have a quick link to Education research materials that you may wish to explore.
