3.10 Key recommendations
- Reduce or avoid high-stake synchronous exams. We recommend smaller, more frequent exams (or other assignments) instead of just 1 or 2 high-stakes exams.
- Increase non-grade or low-stake self-assessment opportunities and leverage technology to provide effective feedback to students in a timely manner.
- Involve students into the assessment process (through self- or peer assessment) to encourage them to become more active in their own learning. Provide students opportunities to use the feedback for improvement.
- Consider rubrics to communicate marking criteria, standardize marking and reduce marking workload.
- Include opportunities for students to learn about academic integrity in your course. Be clear about your expectations around academic integrity and remind students of these during assessments.
