As you review and finalize your course, consider when and how you might collect mid-course feedback:

  • Looking over your course schedule, consider when you will introduce the process to your students, when you will launch the survey, and when/how you will debrief the results with your students.
  • Review sample questions from the University of Toronto Teaching Centre Links to an external site. (scroll down to Examples of Mid-Course Evaluation Questions), and McGill University Links to an external site..  Select or create 3-4 questions you might ask your students. Resist the temptation to ask too many questions.
  • Create an anonymous survey in Qualtrics or Canvas and ask one of your colleagues or former students to read it over for clarity.

It is useful to plan ahead to ensure you have the time to both deliberately incorporate this process into your course and to “close the loop” by reporting back to students.

As part of the Online Teaching Program, the CTLT in Vancouver and CTL in the Okanagan are offering 1-hour, one-on-one consultations to instructors who are interested in a meeting with an Educational Consultant.  If you would like to meet with an Educational Consultant to discuss topics covered in any of the Online Teaching Program modules, please complete the request form.
