A Zoom host has several navigation options. See below for an explanation of the options.

  1. Join Audio - Enable/Disable audio. You can also press the space bar to toggle audio. Tip: Hold the space bar to temporarily toggle the audio.
  2. Start Video - Enable/Disable the camera
    • By clicking the arrow next to the camera icon, there may be an option to Choose Virtual Background (if your computer has sufficient memory).  This allows you to change your background image to something unique (it can be any image at all). There are default media given to you but you can upload your own media.
  3. Security - Grants/Revokes participants' permission to  Share Screen, Chat, Rename Themselves and Unmute Themselves. Additionally, you can Enable a Waiting Room and Lock the Meeting to prevent anyone else from joining.
  4. Participants - Provides the name of all the participants in the room, share their status through icons, and toggle mute all participants.
  5. Polls - (if turned on in web options) Allows you to create polls (redirects you to the Zoom website) or use a previously created Zoom poll made in the same Zoom session.
  6. Chat - Allows you to chat with all or specific participants. Additionally, hosts can decide how participants can use the chat.
  7. Share Screen - Allows for the Host to share their screen. Click the arrow next to the icon to select whether just one participant can screen share at a time, or if multiple participants can screen share simultaneously.
  8. Record - The Host is able to record the Zoom session (when using a computer, but not on a tablet). Participants will be notified.
  9. Closed Caption - Hosts can assign someone or themselves to type closed captions.
  10. Breakout Rooms - Hosts are able to start breakout rooms, broadcast messages, edit groups, and end breakout rooms.
  11. End Button - The Host has two options to leave the meeting: either end the meeting for all, or leave themselves and pass Host privileges to a participant.
  12. More Information Icon - Resources such as invite link, and meeting ID appear when hovering the cursor over the icon.

Other options not shown:

Reactions - Reactions are shown if enabled. Hosts can show their reaction without interrupting anyone. These reactions are shown on the top left corner of the user's box.

Speaker View - This option appears on the top right corner if more than one user is on the Session. This will rearrange all the other participant's camera view. These changes only effect the user's screen.
