 Recording with your Webcam in My Media

To record using Kaltura My Media webcam recording, you need either a built-in webcam in your laptop, or a camera connected to your computer (USB connection). 

  1. In your Course Menu, click My Media.
  2. In My Media, click +Add New, and select New Webcam Recorder from the drop-down menu.

  3. The Record from Webcam will display whatever the camera is able to see, with a gear at the top right and a red dot button at centre.

    1. Click on the gear icon to select your Camera and Audio feeds. You can also disable your camera or audio here.
    2. Click on the red dot to begin recording.
  4. A countdown displays, and then the recording begins with a stop button and timer displayed on the video. When finished recording, click on the square stop button.

  5. The recorded video will replay. You have the option to Record Again, Download a Copy and Use This. If you are happy with your recording, click Use This.

  6. A green bar will display Upload Complete! Below the bar you will see Please fill out these details. Enter a name for the video or media file.
  7. Scroll down to Copyright Permissions and click Select a value.  If the video is your own creation, select With the Permission of the Copyright Holder(s). You will not be able to share your video until you have set the Copyright Permissions.

  8. Scroll down and click Save. The new video will list in My Media, but may take sometime to upload and convert to be ready to use.
