Creating Question Groups in a Canvas Quiz

You can create a Question Group that links to a Question Bank, but to be able to edit and regrade the Question Group after students have taken the quiz, create the Question Group as follows:

  1. In your Canvas course, click Quizzes.
  2. In the Quiz list that appears, click the name of the existing quiz.
  3. In the Quiz summary page, click Edit.
  4. In the Quiz details page, click the Questions tab.
  5. At the bottom of the Questions page, click + New Question Group.
  6. In the form that appears, enter a name for the Group and the number of questions you want.

  7. When ready, click Create Group.
  8. The Question Group will list with no questions and an alert that the group is set to pick more questions than are available. Scroll down and click Find Questions.

  9. A pop-up window appears, listing your Question Banks. In the left column, click the Question Bank that you want.
  10. In the right column, click the check boxes of the number of questions you want to pick.
  11. At the bottom of the list of questions, the list of Groups, click your Question Group name.

  12. When finished, click Add Questions. The questions will list in the Quiz.
