Quick Start Guide: Getting Your Canvas Course Ready

As the new term approaches, here's a streamlined checklist to ensure your Canvas course is set up effectively:

1. Set Up Your Course

• Merge course sections: If you'd like to merge course, lab, tutorial or practicum sections, please reach out to the CTL to request this. 
• Open Early (Optional): Allow early access if you want students to view materials before the first class. 
• Library Reserves (LOCR): Set up your reading list through the Library Online Course Reserves.

2. Prepare Course Materials

• Copy Previous Content: Duplicate materials from past courses to save time. 
• Grade Posting Policy: Consider setting grades to post manually to control when students see them.
• Assignments & Quizzes: Ensure all assessments have the correct availability and due dates. 
• Publish Content: Make modules and pages visible to students.
