Submit a Video Assignment using Kaltura

Sometimes, students need to submit media greater than 500MB to an assignment. The Text Entry submission option enables students to upload larger media files through Kaltura Media as follows.

1. In your Canvas course menu, find your assignment either through the Assignments section of the course, or in a course Module. Make sure you have a fast network connection, because large videos may take a while to upload, and only Kaltura My Media will accept files larger than 500 MB.
2. Click on the Submit Assignment button.
   
3. If you have more than one submission option, click on the Text Entry tab.
4. Position your cursor within the content box, then click on the Embed Kaltura Media icon (it looks like a colourful flower).
   
   
   
5. An Embed Kaltura Media pop-up will appear. If the video is already uploaded, either to My Media or to the Media Gallery, find the video then click on the </> Embed button to the right of the video.
   
   
   
6. If you have not yet uploaded the video, click +Add New then select Media Upload.
   
   
   
7. Drag and drop a file from your computer into the designated area, or select a file using the Choose a File to Upload button.
8. The file will begin to upload. When complete, a notice will appear indicating that the upload has been completed. Add your video name and description.
   
   
   
9. Scroll down to Copyright Permissions and click Select a value.  If the video is your own creation, select With the Permission of the Copyright Holder(s). You will not be able to share your video until you have set the Copyright Permissions.
   
   
   
10. Click on the </>Save and Embed button at the top of the page.
    
11. Your video will now display in the text box. Add any additional text or comments, then click on Submit Assignment. 
12. The Submission details page displays, indicating that you have finished! You can click on the Submission Details link to verify your assignment submission.
