Export a Canvas Quiz to Word
Important: Respondus Quiz only works on Windows machines - it does not work with Apple devices.
You can convert a Canvas quiz to a Word document using Respondus Quiz.
Export the Quiz from Canvas
- In your Canvas course menu, click Settings.
- At the right side of the screen, click Export Course Content.
- On the Content Exports page, under Export Type, select Quiz. A list of all quizzes appears, with all quizzes selected. Click the box next to All Quizzes to deselect all, then select just the one quiz to export. Click Create Export.
- After minute or so, above Export Type, New Export will appear. Click on New Export to download it to your computer.
Import to Respondus Quiz and Save as a Word .doc File
- Open Respondus Quiz and select the Start tab.
- Set the Current Personality to IMS QTI.
- Click Import Questions.
- An Import Questions window will pop up. Click Browse next to File name.
- At the bottom right of the pop up window, change the file type to Zipped IMS QTI package (.zip), then select your file and click Open.
- The Import Questions pop up appears with the zip file listed next to File Name. Enter a name for the temporary working file (here it is "my-sample-file").
- Click Preview. Respondus will process the QTI and list the questions below Preview results.
- When it is finished listing the questions click Finish. The Import Questions window will close.
- Click on the Preview and Publish tab.
- At the left, select Print Options.
- Select your format, depending on whether you want to print the Exam, the Exam with Answer Key or the Answer Key Only.
- Click Save to File. By default, the document will save as a Microsoft Word .doc file.
