Generating Teams

The Teams tab allows you to create teams/Canvas groups for you to be uploaded directly to your Canvas course to be used in group discussions, or assignments

Once the student's responses to your survey have been added to Teamable Analytics, you are ready to generate a team. Start by clicking the blue "Generate Teams" button
Fill in the information for what you want to name the group, if you want to create teams by section or everyone in the course as the Survey Data Source (what you named your survey earlier).
NOTE: If you are planning on using the random algorithm, leave the Survey Data Source blank.
Afterward, you have a choice between using "Weighted", "Priority", "Social" or "Random". Weighted will create the teams based on the student's answers and make sure that the teams have a balanced amount of people who want to work on certain parts of the project, "Priority" will assign teams according to importance, "Social" will make sure that classmates want to work together are together more than likely and those who do not want to work together are not, and Random assigns teams randomly.

For the Weight Algorithm, you will need to set the Survey Data on the "Generate Teams, Step 1 of 2" page.
You can either manually set the total teams at the top or by the number of projects in a project set and the teams will automatically be set for a specific project.
Below that, you are able to make certain attributes important to the program when setting up the groups
Once you are done click generate teams

For the Priority Algorithm, you will need to set the Survey Data on the "Generate Teams, Step 1 of 2" page.
You can either manually set the total teams at the top or by the number of projects in a project set and the teams will automatically be set for a specific project.
Below that, you are able to make the program prioritize certain requirements are met over others.
Once you are done click generate teams.

For the Social Algorithm, you will need to set the Survey Data on the "Generate Teams, Step 1 of 2" page.
You can either manually set the total teams at the top or by the number of projects in a project set and the teams will automatically be set for a specific project.
Below that, you are able to make the program attempt to bring more people that are alike together or diversify their personalities
Once you are done click generate teams.

5. After you have generated the teams you will be taken to this page where you can manually move people to different teams if needed. Once you have finished and everything looks good go back to the Teams tab

6. To upload the teams to Canvas, click the green up arrow button in the middle of the "Actions" column and these teams should now be uploaded to your Canvas course
