Canvas Publishing

There are three publishing levels that need to be enabled for students to see all content on the course.

Course Level
Students cannot see course content unless the course itself is published. In your Canvas course menu, click Home. At top right of the Home page, click the Publish button. When the button turns green, the course is published. Note: students can only access the course after the term official start date or the start date you apply in course settings..

Course menu item level
If students cannot see a course menu item, they cannot see the content it links to. If a course menu item has a slashed eye icon, it is either hidden from students or has no content. To unhide a course menu, click Settings at the bottom of the course menu. In the page that opens, click the Navigation tab. Drag the groups from the bottom 'hidden' list to the top list, or at the right of the item, click the 3-dot icon and click Enable. Scroll down and click Save. The item will now be visible to students in the course menu.

Content Level
When content is created or uploaded to the Canvas course, you need to publish it for students to see.  When the icon beside content is a slash-circle, click it and it will publish indicated by a green circle checkmark.

If a module is unpublished, students cannot see the content published inside the module. For example, in the image below, the module (or group) needs to be published.
