Download Zoom Recordings from the Cloud then Upload to My Media (Kaltura)
Although Zoom recordings are accessible from the cloud, easy access is limited to the course in which it was recorded and the Zoom storage space is not unlimited - eventually you will need to delete your Zoom cloud recordings.
Download your Zoom recordings from the Cloud and upload them to Kaltura for long term, unlimited storage which can be shared in any of your Canvas courses.
To access the recording, click on either the link under Topic or the link under File Size. Clicking the link will take you to the Recording Details page.
The options on the Recording Details page depend on your recording settings on the ubc.zoom.us websiteLinks to an external site.. Click on one of the video recordings to determine which video you would like to download. In this example, both the (A) gallery view and the (B) speaker view were recorded separately. There are also files for the (C) audio only file and for the (D) chat file.
Click on the Download link below one of the recordings. An mp4 file will download to your computer hard drive.
Uploading Recordings to My Media (Kaltura)
In your Canvas course, click My Media. (If you do not see My Media, please view Kaltura: Getting Started). Select Add New.
In the drop-down list that appears, click Media Upload.
Drag and drop the Zoom file previously downloaded from the cloud to your computer into the designated area, or select the file using the Choose a File to Upload button.
The file will begin to upload. When complete, a notice will appear indicating that the upload has been completed. Add your video name and description.
Scroll down to Copyright Permissions and click Select a value. If the video is your own creation, select With the Permission of the Copyright Holder(s). You will not be able to share your video until you have set the Copyright Permissions.
Scroll down and Save. You will not be able to publish until after you have saved the Copyright selection.
The page will reload with a notice that your changes have been saved. Scroll to the Publishing Schedule (under the Copyright Permissions section).
Select your publishing schedule - once published, it can be always visible, or only visible for a specific time frame.
To share the video with your students, you need to change the selection from Private to Published.
Select the course to publish the video to. You can publish to one or more courses.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and Save.
Insert Video into a Page in Canvas
Position your cursor within the content box, then click on the Kaltura icon. If your screen is narrow, click on three vertical dots (to expand the menu) to find the Kaltua icon.
An Embed Kaltura Media pop-up will appear. If the video is already uploaded, either to My Media or to the Media Gallery, find the video then click on the </> Embed button to the right of the video.
If you have not yet uploaded the video, click +Add New then select Media Upload.
Drag and drop a file from your computer into the designated area, or select a file using theChoose a File to Uploadbutton.
The file will begin to upload. When complete, a notice will appear indicating that the upload has been completed. Add your video name and description.
Scroll down to Copyright Permissions and click Select a value. If the video is your own creation, select With the Permission of the Copyright Holder(s). You will not be able to share your video until you have set the Copyright Permissions.
Click on the </>Save and Embed button at the top of the page.
Your video will now display on the page. Save and Publish the page when you are ready.
