Introduction

This is the last module before the course wrap-up and review. It is designed to integrate a lot of the topics we have learned to help answer the question, what’s next? We are hoping to inspire you with what is capable in the future, but we also hope to invoke questions and curiosity so that you can start brainstorming future projects for yourself and other organizations.

Outcomes

By the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • Explain what the human footprint is, how big it is, and how geospatial data can be used to measure it.
  • Describe what big data is and why/when it becomes big.
  • Evaluate limitations and challenges associated with big data.
  • Discuss what an information network is and how it is applied.
  • Evaluate challenges/opportunities in the field of geomatics and where we are heading.
