Access and Privacy at UBC

Nearly every UBC staff and faculty member has access to Confidential information. As a PDF, it is a mandatory requirement that you take privacy and information security training if you use any UBC Electronic Information and Systems.

Keeping in Touch
During your time at UBC, you’ll continue to hear from us regularly about critical dates and deadlines, opportunities for professional and personal development, and other items of importance.

All PDFs are eligible to sign up for a UBC email forwarding address (your.name@ubc.ca) which can be used during your appointment term. This address can be forwarded to your own personal email mailbox. This may be particularly useful to you as a PDF while doing research with campus and community partners.

Most of the time, UBC will contact you by email. It is your responsibility to ensure that the email address, phone number, and address provided to Human Resources are correct.

You also have the right to designate the preferred name and pronouns you would like your supervisors and others at UBC to use when addressing you. Postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculty at UBC can add or change a preferred name online through Workday.
