Course Overview

Learning Outcomes

The overall objective of this course is for the students to understand how forest plantation should be designed, managed and protected from pest and disease.

By the end of this course students should be able to:

  • Recognize methods in forest plantation design and management.
  • Develop a forest site inventory.
  • Evaluate forest plantation design and management for the species of eucalyptus, teak, rubber, bamboo, Chinese fir, and poplar.
  • Analyze real-world problems and apply the appropriate principles of forest plantation design and management in formulating integrated forest plantation management and protection strategies for other tropical tree species.
  • Evaluate an afforestation design of peer’s and write an evaluation report.
