Introduction

In this topic, we have provided you with a number of case studies. Each of the case studies involves a particular set of circumstances that illustrates some of the ecological processes and relationships that have been described in earlier modules. We don’t expect you to read through every case study and would rather you concentrate on a few and try to become as familiar as possible with the cases.

Outcomes

By the end of this topic, you should be able to:

  • Describe forests from at least three different areas.
  • Apply what you have learnt in previous modules to an improved understanding of the three areas.
  • Compare the key characteristics of three different forest types.
