Summary

In this module, we introduced the basic science about climate and climate change. We explained the major causes of contemporary climate change and options to fight against climate change including mitigation and adaptation. We also introduced the definition of forest ecosystems, biomes, and their classifications. We covered the potential impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems and their functions in terms of health, productivity, biodiversity, vulnerability to stress and functions of forest ecosystems. The role of forest ecosystems in mitigation and adaptation to climate change was particularly discussed.
