This module provided overview of Asia’s social, economic and ecological system. You learned about how unique and diverse is Asia and further discussed about existing traditional knowledge system of using and managing natural resources in Asia through case studies showing how people live harmony with nature. However, due to rapid economic growth and development in the region, how Asia has been changing and placing immense pressure to forests and natural resources posing threats to biodiversity and ecosystem not only in the Asia but also across the globe. Thus, this module set a stage and paved the way forward to understand socio-economic, culture, biodiversity and its consequence on global biodiversity conservation.
