Course Overview

Learning Approach & Activities

Using problem-based and case-based learning approaches, students will develop critical analytical thinking and enhance their skills at finding effective solutions to sustainable forest management in a changing context through reading and discussion. It is expected that students will conduct self-reflection, peer reviews and work collaboratively with their peers for co-creation of knowledge and learn to integrate theories and concepts of sustainable forest management into practice.

The course is divided into six modules. Within each module, there are a variable number of topics. Each topic has a variety of materials that are designed to help you learn about the subject. The most important of these are the lectures. These are provided in two forms. There is a presentation with a voice-over, which you should watch first. This will introduce you to the subject, but you won't have time to study individual slides, some of which are "data-heavy". Underneath each video, there is a file containing the text of the presentation, and this is what you should use for further study, as it contains additional notes not given in the verbal presentations. The presentation texts are continuously updated, and so may not be identical to the slides used in the videos (although they will be very similar).
