Delivery Format

This course is designed to be a fully online, massive open online course (MOOC) with an option to issue a graduate level course completion certificate. Course content like readings and fundamental concepts will be offered as open educational resources for the Asia-Pacific region. The entire course, or part of it, are welcome to be repurposed in other current and future courses and programs to support flipped, blended, and online learning. It will be delivered online through a learning management system (LMS) or an MOOC platform. It will follow a format similar to mainstream MOOCs on EdX or Coursera, which typically include 5-7 minute videos, interactive presentations, automatically graded quizzes, and moderated online discussions on weekly basis. Added features will include virtual storytelling and tours using immersive media as well as scheduled online sessions with content experts.

In the case of non-certified learning, learners will participate in online forum discussions facilitated by instructors or teaching assistants (TAs) and accomplish self-review activities found both in the middle and at the end of each learning topic. Assignments will be peer-evaluated. A course completion badge will be issued after learners successfully pass the course.

In the case of certified learning, learners not only will have scheduled synchronous online web-conferencing sessions and discussions but also will actively engage with instructors, TAs, and theirs peers in asynchronous online forum discussions. They will also have to complete all instructor-assessed assignments to earn the certificate. Furthermore, learners who chose to be certified have to pass an invigilated online examination with an synchronous interview component at the end of the course.
