Topic Introduction

There are several UN- and UN-related Organizations and Programs with work programs addressing forestry directly and indirectly. Their mandates and work programs reflect their degree of involvement in forestry.

By the end of this topic, you should be able to recognize the mandates and working modalities of:

• UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO),
• United Nations Development Program (UNDP),
• United Nations Environment Program (UNEP); UN Environment,
• UN Forum on Forests UNFF),
• The World Bank,
• International Tropical Timbre Organization, and
• The Secretariats of the three Rio Conventions.

Online Discussions

This online Discussion is related to Topic 2.1.  The students will be given the subject of the discussion at the end of the respective online lecture, then there will be a chance to contribute to the online discussion the last day of the respective week. Every student will have a chance to exchange ideas about the topic in question and engage in questions and answers with others.
