Welcome to the UBC-Vancouver Library Tutorial!
What to Expect?
The purpose of the Library Skills Tutorial is to help you become familiar with the collections and services at UBC Library and to cover the basics of conducting research. The tutorials will help to prepare you for academic research and introduce you to how information is created, shared, and evaluated in scholarly environments.
Roadmap
There are 5 modules in this course. They are:
Module 1: Introduction to UBCV Library
Module 3: Finding Sources- Basic
Module 4: Finding Sources- Advanced
These modules contain many different resources and multimedia to share information with you. In each of these modules you will encounter:
Vocabulary lists are used in the modules to understand the terms needed to use to the library effectively. The vocabulary words will be used in practice quizzes in the modules.
Activity Worksheets are available at the beginning of each module and are paired with the activities you will find as you move through the modules. The worksheet will help you with the module quizzes. Some instructors may assign the worksheets as part of a course.
Quizzes are used in the modules to test your knowledge. Some quizzes are for practice and some award points.
You will be awarded a certificate of completion for each module which you can download after viewing each page of the module and getting 90% on the completion quiz. Your instructor may require you to submit your certificate if you are completing these modules as part of assigned coursework.
When you are ready to begin, select the Modules link on the left menu or go to: Start this Training.

How you would like students to verify for you that they have completed the modules is up to you. We suggest setting up a graded assignment in Canvas for the modules you would like them to complete, and have students submit the certificate or upload screenshots.
