Fashion is one of the key elements of every individual's existence. Since the beginning of human civilization, fashion has played a vital role in the way people perceived themselves and the way others perceived them. In fact, fashion was one of the reasons behind the creation of villages as people would gather together in order to share information on how they could fashion their lives after death. Since the early nineteen eighties fashion trends have been a mainstay at fashion week events. Each year fashion weeks brings fashion gurus from all over the world to a city where the spotlight is placed on these fashion capitals of the world. For many people the next fashion week may not even be in their own country, with cities like London and New York hosting the biggest and most influential fashion weeks of the year. The fashion of the twenty-first century will no doubt continue to evolve and change with new trends arising in different countries and regions of the world. Some years ago Paris Fashion Week was one of the most popular fashion weeks, but now Paris has its own unique place in fashion with every designer having their own boutique there. Other fashion capitals around the world have not embraced the limelight as Paris has, but they too have had their fair share of attention in recent years. With the launch of World War 2 a whole new era of fashion was ushered in. Following closely on the heels of the World War 1 clothing became much more relaxed, sporty, and relaxed. There was much more of a sense of fun and experimentation with clothes and trends. Many fashion experts believe this was partly due to the fact that there were fewer clothes available for battle wear, so they had to become creative with how they presented them.

The start of the new century saw fashion slow down again, but in a rather surprising manner. As the Cold War started to decline fashion as a global business opportunity suddenly became very attractive. For the first time in many years fashion trends were not dictated by economic recessions, fashion trends were no longer dictated by the economy. During these times fashion was actually one of the few areas which seemed to defy the age, and fashion was no longer dominated by the rich and famous.

A new fashion trend emerged which was fuelled by the relaxation of the masses. This fashion was based on the fact that people were now more willing to spend their money. People were starting to realize that they could buy what they wanted, whether that be a new car or designer clothing. As the number of these consumers increased during the 1950's so did the number of clothing companies who began to offer fashionable and trendy styles and trends. The war was over, but fashion was not, and would remain a niche industry for the next few decades.
