Pond Hockey

Ice hockey is one of, if not the most popular sport in Canada. Millions of Canadians across the country lace up their skates each year to play. Most of the time, hockey is played indoors in an ice rink, but it is sometimes played outdoors when it is cold enough for bodies of water to freeze over. Pond hockey is a more casual version of ice hockey, and is unorganized most of the time. There are no strict rules and it is much more informal and relaxed.

I am from Toronto, Ontario, which is the biggest hockey city in the world. I have played hockey since elementary school, though it was mostly indoors. Back home, there were many more opportunities to play pond hockey. This is because the winters in Ontario are much colder than they are here in British Columbia, meaning lakes and ponds would freeze over quite often.

In this ePortfolio, I will be highlighting various weather hazards that may be an issue when playing pond hockey. I will also create a checklist for deciding whether or not to play, as well as some helpful links that may be needed.
