Dynevor was also spotted entering and exiting a lavish red carriage on the set of Bridgerton, where she was shielded from view by an array of crew members holding black umbrellas. Still, paparazzi managed to capture a few images of the newly married eldest Bridgerton daughter, wearing her signature updo and an empire-waist gown. She was spotted in front of the Bridgerton household, so it's likely she was visiting her family apart from the Duke of Hastings.

Kate’s sister, Edwina, has been cast.

Deadline confirmed on April 1 that Charithra Chandran has been cast in the role of Kate’s younger sister, Edwina. As Variety reports, “She’s kind-natured and endlessly endearing. But while she may be young and naive, she also knows what she wants: a true love match.”

This is Chandran's first major role; she has one previous IMDB credit for the show Alex Rider. “I never really thought this would happen...I never thought someone who looked like me would be in a show like this,” she told fans during TUDUM. She also revealed that Edwina's family, the Sharmas, are the outsiders in the ton. “They represent the audience, in a way,” she said.

Other new cast members include Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch, and Rupert Young.

Say hello to the Sharma matriarch: Conn (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Nina’s Heavenly Delights) will play Kate and Edwina’s mother, Mary Sharma, an Earl’s daughter who’s no stranger to controversy—her marriage to a tradesman threw her family into scandal, Variety reports.

Meanwhile, Calam Lynch (Derry Girls) will play Theo Sharpe, a printer’s assistant and “an intellectual who fights for the rights for all.”

Finally, Rupert Young (Merlin) will star as the mysteriously named “Jack,” simply described as a well-connected new member of the ton. Deadline reports the character is completely new and does not appear in the books; he also boasts “a connection to…a Bridgerton mystery.” Intriguing!

The Bridgerton children's late father will make an appearance, presumably in flashbacks.

Lord Bridgerton will make his first on-screen appearance in the Bridgerton universe, played by Charmed star Rupert Evans, as reported by Deadline. This won't come as a shock to fans of the books, who will have already guessed at the coming cameo from the season 1 finale, in which the last frame depicts a bee floating near the windowsill.

But for those unfamiliar with all the highs and lows of the Bridgerton clan, a quick explanation: Lord Bridgerton was allergic to bees, and he died of a sting at age 38. His son, Anthony, was then forced not only to grieve his father's death but to take over the viscounty as an 18-year-old. Not the kind of responsibility I'd want as a newly minted adult. It's safe to assume that, because season 2 will focus on Anthony's romance, it will also focus on his past, making his father's appearances in his flashbacks all but guaranteed.

Regé-Jean Page will not return as a series regular in season 2.

Much to the horror of Bridgerton fans who fell for the Duke of Hastings and his, erm, attributes, Page will not be coming back for the second season of the popular Netflix series. The series’ Twitter account announced the news.

In an interview with Variety, Page explained why he appreciated the single-season commitment for Bridgerton: “It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end—give us a year,” he explained. “It felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”

He continued, “I have nothing but excitement for Bridgerton continuing to steam train off and conquer the globe,” he says. “But there is also value in completing these arcs and sticking the landing.”

Such a revelation is interesting, considering that, in December, Page told TV Guide he wanted to see more of Daphne and Simon’s relationship in season 2. “As far as continuing to explore characters, I think that love is an evolving thing,” he said. “It’s a living, breathing thing that needs tending, that needs looking after, that needs mending when it gets worn or torn. They get married very young. They still have a lot of growing to do. They have a lot to do, and I think it’ll always be fun to watch them do that together.”

Apparently, the production production didn’t ask him to return until early 2021, weeks after the series became a blockbuster Netflix hit, according to an April 6 report in The Hollywood Reporter: “With Page’s film career taking off and an awareness that Simon would not be a focal point in season two, the actor declined to return to the Shondaland drama.”

There is, however, some possibility that Page could appear in a flashback or cameo, as he hinted in an interview with British GQ. “You know I couldn't tell you!" he said, before later adding, “Isn't there something wonderful about being surprised by what you weren't suspecting?” That sounds a lot like a tease to us.
