Hello everyone,

My e-portfolio is about flight! I especially enjoyed the flight module. I will provide a list of useful websites for flights and will further mention weather hazards associated with flying.

FlightRadar24 Canada Airports | Plane Flight Tracker
1. Airport/weather

Provides information of different airports as well as closest airports with distance away from your location. It also provides real-time mapping radar image of plane flights as well as routes for flying from an airport to another airport. It is important to keep track of near by airports as pilots may have to do an emergency landing when they are encountered by unexpected weather circumstances such as thunderstorms.

This webpage also has a weather forecast map showing temperature, wind, air pressure, precipitation, and wave height which are important information to consider for a safe flight and flight path!

2. Turbulence
I personally really don’t like turbulence that I experience during flight. Even a small turbulence that I feel during the flight greatly discomforts me. This website provides real-time world-wide turbulence map as well as wind speed heat map based on different altitude. This information may be utilized for an optimal flight such as deciding for a safe flight path depending on turbulence level

3. ceiling and visibility
This website can be especially useful or even required for pilots flying according to visual flight rules VFR. Pilots need to visually see their routes, however heavy clouds may block their view. Therefore, it is important to stay out of clouds.

Also when there is a layer of clouds covering more than half the sky (known as ceiling for VFR aviation), VFR flights need to fly in clear sky below the ceiling.
Information regarding visibility and ceiling may be accessed from this website which provides live sky coverage and amount of cloud within different areas. Hence, pilots can plan their routes before their flights! Remember! ceilings and visibility are important considerations for whether a flight can be a VFR or not (IFR).
