- Points 10
The course pedagogy anticipates active participation in all seminars throughout the semester is an expectation of the class. Class participation will contribute 10% to the final grade for the semester,, and reward those who really elevate the level of discourse during seminar.
Exemplary participation does not imply the most frequent participation. High participation marks will be earned by those who elevate the quality of dialogue in seminar on a consistent basis, while also leaving room for others to participate actively.
Students will be expected to make meaning of key concepts from assigned readings, raise questions and provide thoughtful support and/or critique for those concepts.
Students will be expected to apply concepts and issues being presented in relation to their own research interests and/or the case studies on which they work throughout the semester.
Students will be expected to prepare for and participate in a variety of exercises that facilitate their applying course concepts to case studies, presenting these in class, and providing constructive peer feedback in response to presentations from other classmates.
Course participation will be evaluated in keeping with the general rubric presented in the Approach to Evaluation.
