Course Information
In this course you will be completing modules that will be released individually in sequence:
Module 1: Person-Centered Maternity Care and Place of Birth
Module 2: Communication
Module 3: Teamwork
Module 4: Conflict Transformation
Module 5: Practicing Person-Centred Decision Making
Activities
The modules include videos, readings on theory and evidence related to the topics, interactive learning activities, and links to key resources. You will participate in discussion boards self and peer assessments, and audio/video exercises.
Most of the activities are designed to allow you to participate at a time of your choosing within the overall timeline of module release and closing dates. Since the overall learning goal for this course is to enhance interprofessional skills and competencies, you will be required to collaborate with other members of your cohort to complete a few of the activities. These group assignments will be achievable through non-simultaneous engagement, using shared platforms like discussion boards and the Classroom Annotation System (CLAS). Please note that for your classmates to complete some the group activities, they may be dependent on your timely contributions.
For discussion activities, a faculty moderator will confirm your participation, and respond to any questions that come up in posts. Your posts to discussion boards will not be graded by the instructor for content.
A final online face-to-face activity will occur in module 5. This exercise will be conducted like a simulation. It will be scheduled and conducted using remote technology. A strong internet connection is recommended to complete this course.
We ask that you complete the evaluations after finishing the course. Your feedback will be incorporated into any modifications and enhancements we make to the future versions of this course.
