iPeer: Create and Edit an iPeer Evaluation
Create and Edit an iPeer Evaluation
iPeer Evaluations are built in iPeer so that they can then be assigned to students in an iPeer Event. There are three types of iPeer Evaluation:
- Simple Evaluations allow students to assess the contributions of their fellow group members by distributing a set number of points (e.g. 100) among them.
- Rubric Evaluations allows students to rate their peers on a Likert scale for various aspects of their performance.
- Mixed Evaluations combine short answer questions with Likert scale rubric questions.
In iPeer, at top of the page, click Evaluation to go to the Evaluations page, which lists all the evaluations you have for each type of evaluation as well as links to add new evaluations. You have the option of A) copying and editing an existing evaluation, or B) creating your own.

Copying and Editing an Existing Evaluation

- Click your browser back button to return to the list.
- Right-click the evaluation you want to copy and edit.
- In the drop-down menu that appears, click Copy Evaluation.

- In the copy form, enter a new name for the evaluation you want to keep.
- Scroll down and make your desired edits (see below for details on editing each of the three evaluation types).
- When finished, scroll down and click Save. This new copy of the evaluation will list in your evaluations.
Creating Your Own Evaluation
- In the Evaluation page on the right side of the page, according to your choice of evaluation type, click āAdd...ā. For example, click Add Simple Evaluation.

- In the new evaluation form page that opens, fill in the details of your evaluation. Each of the evaluation types are described below as well as how to add questions to them.

Evaluation Types
Simple Evaluation
A Simple Evaluation is where students assess the contributions of their fellow group members by distributing a set number of points (e.g. 100) among them.
On the form for Simple Evaluations, before saving, enter:
- Evaluation Name (required).
- Description (optional).
- Base Points Per Member: recommended values between 10 and 100. This means that if you enter 10 points per member and the student evaluates 3 members, there will be 30 points to split. For example, each gets 10, or a few for two and the rest for the third, or even 1, 1, and 28.
- Availability: choose Private by default, or Public if you would like other instructors to be able to use this template.

Rubric Evaluation
A Rubric Evaluation is where each group member rates the others on specific criteria using a scale called Level of Mastery.
- In the first section of the Rubric Edit form, enter:
- Evaluation Name.
- Level of Mastery (number of Likert scale units for each criterion).
- Number of Criteria on which students will be evaluated.
- Availability (whether other instructors can see it as a template).
- Zero Mark (whether the Likert scale starts at zero).
- View Mode (which layout of the rubric will be visible to students).

- Click Next to make the Rubric Edit page expand downwards. You can edit the information you provided on the first page, and add the following details:
- Description of each Level of Mastery (e.g. Poor, Average, Good, Very Good).
- Criterion title (e.g. "Participated in meetings").
- Specific Comment for each Criteria Level of Mastery (e.g. "rarely participated").
- Specific Mark awarded to the student for each Level of Mastery within each Criterion.
- Criteria Weight (weight associated with the marks awarded for each Criterion).

- When finished, click Save.
