While sharing and/or viewing documents in OneDrive students and instructor must access OneDrive through their UBC organizational emails. This is due to the organizational access restrictions set on documents shared through UBC affiliated OneDrive accounts.
Enter your Firstname.Lastname@ubc.ca email and your UBC CWL password when prompted to log in.
SelectOneDrivefrom the dashboard, and the interface will open in a new window.
On the My files page, at the top of the screen, click Upload then select the file or folder you would like to upload. (If the file you want to upload is already on your OneDrive, skip to Step 3.)
Next to the file or folder that you would like to share, click the Share icon (A), or click the 3 Vertical Dots (B), then click Share (C).
A pop-up will appear. As you will be sharing the link in Canvas, click on "People you specify can edit" below the Copy link text.
A new pop-up will appear. Select People in UBC with this link (A). If you would like to allow editing on the document, select Allow editing (B). If you turn off Allow editing, you can then also select to Block download (C). Click Apply. Some files may come with different options under the Other Settings menu. A new pop-up will appear. Click Copy to copy the link to your clipboard.
Share the OneDrive Link in Canvas
In your Canvas course, navigate to Modules.
Click the Add Item button at the top of a module (+).
Select External URL from the dropdown menu next to Add.
Paste the URL copied from OneDrive into the box next to URL.
Enter a name for the file in the box next to Page Name.
