Welcome!

This workshop is one component as part of the Online Teaching Program (OTP), and we encourage you to consult this program throughout this workshop and after completion. The content in the OTP modules provides an in-depth exploration of online learning. We will also refer each day to the Guiding Principles for Fall 2020 Course Adaptations that was recently released and we encourage you to read this to deepen your understanding of the context and approach to online learning at UBC this coming fall.

We are offering you a one-week workshop that focuses on blending synchronous and asynchronous learning in an online format. In this workshop, you will learn about and consider the relative strengths of each, as well as linkages across these two approaches. For example: Which learning activities are most suited to using web-conferencing tools? Which activities might be effective using learning activities like discussion boards?

You will also explore effective approaches to teaching in asynchronous and synchronous online classes.
