Creating a Welcome Video

One of the ways that we can increase teaching presence in a course is by developing a welcome video. Welcome videos are a way to humanize your course and connect with learners. In a welcome video you may want to share how you intend to support students in the course and
include any directions or resources students will need to get started.  For this challenge:

  2. Create your own welcome video for one of your courses and share it on the discussion board.

 

Developing an Introductions Discussion Board

An Introductions Discussion Board can be useful in setting the tone for your course and provides students with the opportunity to get to know the teaching team and each other. You can use this space to answer questions so that everyone in the class will see them,

  1. In your upcoming course, create a discussion board and title it Introductions or Introduce Yourself.
  2. Share your own introduction and an invitation for students to introduce themselves. You might also include some questions related to the course or discipline.
  3. Consider also including the link to the Canvas guide on how you can update your profile page in Canvas as well as instructions for setting personal pronouns in Canvas Links to an external site..
