M2: Faculty spotlight: Sarika Bose
Dr. Sarika Bose has developed and teaches two fully asynchronous online courses, ENGL 364 (Victorian Studies) and ENGL 392 (Children's Literature).
Dr. Bose communicates with her students in both of these courses two to three times a week through the CANVAS Announcements page. On Monday mornings, a message goes out to welcome students to the week, and remind them of the week’s readings and tasks. Midweek, a global response to the discussions from the previous week is sent to students. The discussion posts are a key aspect of creating a learning community in this course. On Friday mornings, a wrap-up of the week is sent, along with a recipe related to the texts we are studying. This is a lighthearted reminder that students can enjoy texts in multiple ways – they can have fun making treats and learning about social contexts that connect food and literature.
