M3: End-of-course communication with students
It’s important to keep communicating with students until the end of the term. Two important messages to convey at this time are:
- Encourage students to provide feedback using UBC’s Student Experience of Instruction tool
- Requirements for wrapping-up the course.
Checklist #6: Two weeks before the end of the course
In addition to sending weekly announcements, two weeks before the end of your course you should send an email Links to an external site. or post an announcement Links to an external site. inviting your students to complete a course evaluation survey using UBC’s Student Experience of Instruction tool.
Some tips to encourage students to complete the survey are:
- Tell students about the importance of the surveys in class and, where relevant, let students know that you may make changes as a result of the feedback.
- Let students know how results from the survey are used at the institution (pdf handout).
- Be aware of the survey’s open and close dates and the percentage of students who have completed the survey. Increase response rates by sending reminders to all students.
- If you have synchronous sessions, provide time in class to complete the survey.
