M3: Faculty spotlight: Katie Lee Bunting
Katie Lee Bunting, Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, has taken great care to incorporate inclusive and accessible principles to the design of all course materials and to messages sent to students. This wisdom is shared in this 4 minute video that includes some suggestions for how to craft your own letter to the class - and have fun with it!
The inclusive teaching practices are also reflected on the OSOT 533 course home page. According to Katie,
"One of the most helpful collaborations was when I worked with an Educational Consultant to organize my Canvas course for OSOT 553. While this may seem quite straightforward and simple, this guidance really helped me elevate the organization of my Canvas courses. Simple suggestions, such as the use of headings, different font colours, and consistent formatting made a significant difference. I’ve used this template now across other courses, with great effect! Students consistently share with me, through student evaluations of instruction, and also anecdotally, how much they value the organization of my Canvas courses."
