First things first: What is Wingsuit Flying?

Wingsuit flying (or wingsuiting) as an extreme sport was invented by thrill seekers hoping to add the element of flying to skydiving and BASE jumping. You wear a (typically) nylon suit that increases surface area and gives your body lift.

And Next: Types of Wingsuit Flying

1. Basic Circling Wingsuit Flying:

This is very similar to skydiving. The flier jumps from a plane and circles a targeted landing area. Perfect for anybody who wants a little pizzazz to their skydiving adventures.

2. Distance Wingsuit Flying:

Like the name implies, this is all about how far you can go! Jump off a plane and try to set a record for how far you can fly (the current record is 28.707 km or about 3 km farther than the distance between UBC and SFU). Also great for beginners, provided you have someone to pick you up when you land

3. "Ultimate" Wingsuit Flying:

The third and last form of wingsuit flying that gets you really up close and personal with nature. You can jump like a base jumper and fly through canyons, between trees and under waterfalls. It is the "ultimate" extreme sport, and is by far the hardest and most dangerous form of wingsuit flying.

Here's a quick intro video to show you an example of "ultimate wingsuiting"
