Welcome to my ePortfolio! My name is Queena Cheong and I will be presenting on the wonders as well as hazards of hiking! I have decided to focus on hiking because it is my favourite summer hobby and since we live in the greater Vancouver area with lots of great hiking trails to explore, why not pass on my passion for hiking to others?
I started hiking around 4 years ago. Every summer, in the month of July (because it is my birthday month!), my youth group and I would drive to a different hiking trail in B.C. none of us have been before and spend 2 days camping and hiking! However, since entering post secondary school, I have stopped going on hiking trails outside of Vancouver, but I still hike in local trails such as Quarry Rock in Deep Cove and Twin Falls in Lynn Canyon!

These are pictures I took during our break while we were hiking the Panoramic Ridge trail near Garibaldi Mountain in July 2016. While this trail boasts one of the most scenic views in British Columbia, it requires extremely hard work and pre-planning to complete this hike!
My goal for this ePortfolio is for it to serve as a guide for those who are planning their next hiking trip and also educate on the weather hazards and dangers that come with this strenuous, yet exhilarating, hobby! You will find in my ePortfolio that I have included many useful links which can be found in the tabs on the left-hand side; including a real-time weather map, weather hazards to consider and a checklist of all the essentials!
