This is a photo of me riding at Whistler Peak in September of 2016!

Welcome to my E-Portfolio about the effects of weather on the sport of Mountain Biking. The North Shore of Vancouver, as well as Squamish and Whistler, are universally considered the top mountain biking destinations in the world. Vancouver's North Shore is so legendary, that any wooden trail features built around the world are referred to as "North Shore". Whistler Bike Park, which is located on Whistler Mountain, is the world's largest and most visited Bike Park.

Mountain Biking is largely effected by the weather. Extreme temperatures and precipitation can cause trails to be very hazardous, as well as cause bikes to malfunction. Wind and fog can cause stunts, such as jumping, to be extremely dangerous. Checking weather conditions before embarking on a mountain biking trip is a necessity for any serious and sensible mountain biker. Mountain biking in bad weather will not only ruin your trip, but it can also lead to serious injuries.

On the following pages, there will be an explanation on these weather hazards, useful links for weather and trail conditions, as well as a checklist for trip planning.
