Peer feedback comments

Comments on the other students' work for the first essay are due Friday February 8 by 5pm. Please see instructions on how to complete them.

Your comments on the essay you review should be more than just a few short ones saying things like "good work"--that doesn't really help people see what they are doing well and what they could improve! You should include positive comments on what they did well as well as constructive comments on what they could improve, and in both cases provide enough detail to help them see clearly what is working or not working. Be sure to fill out all parts of the rubric that is posted for you to provide feedback on. You can also include overall comments on the whole essay if you wish.

You don't need to submit anything here for the peer feedback comments; you do those on the essays themselves. I'm creating this assignment just to note the due date for peer feedback, and also to create a place to submit your self-assessment.

Self-assessment of essay 1

Self-assessment just means to go back to your work and think about the degree to which you yourself think, upon re-reading, it succeeds in what you were trying to do.

For self-assessment for essay 1, please download and fill out the following worksheet. You can download the MS Word copy and type in it, or download the PDF, write in it, and scan or take a picture of the worksheet to upload here.

You don't need to answer all the questions on the worksheet! They are just there to provide you with prompts to think about. But please do include comments in each of the sections (except the last one, the one marked "anything else," which is optional).

Marks

You can earn up to 3 points for the peer feedback and up to 3 for the self-assessment, so this assignment counts for up to 6 points.

For the peer feedback, you will get full marks if you submit your essay on time for peer feedback, complete comments on someone else's essay by Feb. 8 at 5pm, and include comments in all parts of the rubric that are clear and detailed enough to explain why you thought things worked well or not so well.

For the self-assessment, you will get full marks if you submit it on time, if you have comments in each part of the worksheet (except the "anything else" section, which is optional), and provide enough detail to explain why you think some things worked well and some things could be improved.
