Now that you understand what causes conflict, you will discuss your own conflict management strategies.

In the discussion board, you will find five different threads corresponding to the conflict management styles. To complete this activity, you will need to follow these instructions:

  1. If you have not already done so, Identify your own conflict style by completing the conflict styles self test found in this module.
  2. Find the discussion thread that matches your most dominant conflict management style. If you have two styles, choose the style that is more dominant. If you have two equally dominant styles, choose to post to the discussion thread with less people.
  3. In the discussion thread for that style, post a paragraph of a minimum 250 words and a maximum 350 words addressing the following:
    • Justify how a team full of identical management styles might successfully address or escalate conflict.
    • Give examples or speak hypothetically.
  4. Select a peer to respond to after reading your peer’s posts who have a different conflict management style than you. Choose a conflict management style that you are curious about. Do this by reading posts in other discussion boards.
  5. Write a response to one person and post a paragraph of a minimum 250 words and a maximum 350 words.
    • Explain your own conflict management style. Discuss how your management style serves to address and manage conflict when you are in conflict with their management style
    • Give examples or speak hypothetically. You may want to acknowledge how your style might escalate conflict when in dialogue with theirs.

This activity is graded. Accuracy or quality of your postings will not be scored. You will receive full marks for completion of each discussion activity. Discussions are worth 20% of your overall course mark.
