3.2.c Discussion: Maternity Care Team

This is a discussion activity about professional roles, scope, and competencies. To do this activity you will need to read about another profession and then post about what you learned.  

1. Choose a profession that is not your own, but make sure to choose a profession that is represented in your cohort for this course. You will be look into your chosen profession's role, scope and competencies.

2. To complete this activity, you can either go to the next page (called Professional Roles), and read the description and resources provided for that profession, or go to the website of the College of the profession you have chosen.

3. Then return to this page and post to the discussion board about the professional scope and role of that profession, as it relates to maternal or newborn care.

4. Then respond to 1 post about your own profession and describe areas of expertise, specialized knowledge, or practice abilities that your profession can contribute when collaborating with other professionals around care of a person during the maternity care cycle.  

Others can contribute to the discussions by seeking or providing clarifications, or by contributing to the discussion about how the professions collaborate.

This activity is graded. Accuracy or quality of your postings will not be scored. You will receive full marks for completion of each discussion activity.  Discussions are worth 20% of your overall course mark.
