Identifying Values and Beliefs

TIME CODES with VALUES: 0:51-1:40 Midwife discusses how interventions are more likely to occur in hospital with the same provider as compared to home birth. She also describes how people's community influence their ideas about what is right or wrong (for example with parenting choices). 3:29 Clarifies that it makes them feel anxious to have a group of providers come into the room and make recommendations for care. 3:59-4:17 Clarifies if they are concerned about being given a medication unnecessarily instead of being given a medication necessarily. 4:25 Clarifies that couple may not be involved in the decision making about their care if too many people are in the room. 4:39-5:37 Encourages the couple to think about what parts of the birth plan are important to them and ensure their provider knows what those preferences are (ex: create a birth plan). 5:41 Midwife says they want to feel like they have an advocate for their preferences.
