As frequently stated throughout this course, developing negotiation skills are crucial for constructive participation in strategic planning and multi-stakeholder consultations. Equally important is how to plan and prepare for Multi-stakeholder Consultations, commonly known as “Multi-stakeholders’ Roundtables.
Planning and preparations may include: estimating the human and financial resources required to implement the process, conflict resolution procedures, ensuring that the stakeholders are comfortable, understand, and accept both their rights and responsibilities in the process, and finally disseminating decisions, reports, and findings to stakeholders and getting their feedback as needed.
By the end of this topic, you should be able to:
Value the advantages of full participation of stakeholders before commencing the consultation.
Assess compliance with international agreements.
Practice a multi-stakeholder’s consultation.
Prepare summaries of the outcomes of the consultation.
