About Me

I grew up in the landlocked province of Saskatchewan but my love of the ocean drove me to Vancouver where I have lived for the past four years while going to school. I am a 4th-year undergraduate researcher at the University of British Columbia. During my degree, I have had so many amazing opportunities to learn and grow, including doing fieldwork as a representative of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, giving a guest lecture to a first-year biology class, and presenting my work at an undergraduate conference. I look forward to starting my Master's degree in the fall with the Keeling Lab at UBC. My research interests include endosymbiosis, evolutionary biology, and ocean conservation. In my free time, I read fantasy novels (click here for my favorite author), practice my coding skills, and play guitar. I spend every summer training for the annual Terry Fox Run to raise money for cancer research.
