The Go/No-Go Checklist to help you ensure a smooth ride. Of course, it's still important to check the weather and consider any weather hazards that may appear. If the weather looks unsafe, consider rescheduling your ride. However, if it looks good, then make sure you:

  • Have a plan: Have you planned out and researched which route that you're going to be taking for your trip so that you don't get lost? Proper planning can help you avoid any obstacles or know how difficult your ride is going to be so that you can pack accordingly. Additionally, let others know where you're going just in case something happens.
  • Check the weather: Have you checked the weather forecast ahead of time to know what the weather conditions will be? It's important to know the weather situation so that you know how to dress, or if it's even safe to go out! Make sure you also look out your window the day of to confirm- weather forecasts can change!
  • Dress for the weather: Have you dressed appropriately for the weather outside? In order to have the most comfortable ride, make sure you've got on the correct layers and materials, as well as any extra gear you may need.
  • Check your bike: Have you ensured your bike is in tip-top shape for the ride ahead? Double check if you have the correct tires that you need for the weather and that they're filled with air. Also make sure that all your parts are moving properly, and grease any moving parts that may need it.
  • Pack your gear: What you'll need to pack depends on the trip that you've planned. Maybe carry a tire pump with you in case, but always make sure you have water. Depending on the length of your ride, you may also want to bring a snack or a meal.
  • Check in with yourself: Are you feeling ready for the ride ahead? Make sure that you have enough energy for the ride you've planned, and that you're confident you can complete the ride ahead!
