When you are full of joy and ready to go hiking, sometimes you will encounter a bad weather environment. For those who often go hiking, these are unforeseeable and inevitable.

Here are 4 main weather conditions that u may encounter in Vancouver.

1. Snow

  • Plan your own bike lanes ahead of time: many cities are now starting to pave bike lanes. Find out which bike lanes are paved and plan your route accordingly. If there are no bike lanes, take the traffic-calmed back streets where you are most likely to have your own path.
  • Distribute the weight on the bike evenly (e.g., bike bag).
  • Driving on ice. Try not to brake, pedal, or turn on the ice.
  • Lower your seat so you can put your feet down more easily.
  • Keep your lights on, even during the day.
  • Ride in lower gears with lower tire pressures than the maximum recommended for your bike.

2. Rain 💦

  •    Invest in a good waterproof jacket: The most important piece of clothing to fight against the rain is a jacket. A good waterproof jacket will not only keep your torso dry but also help you regulate your body temperature. GoreTex is the best material to use because it is waterproof and breathable. Breathable material is essential so you don't overheat.
  •   Wearing overshoes and gloves: Your extremities are the first parts to be sacrificed to maintain your core temperature, and when your hands and feet get wet and cold, you feel disproportionately uncomfortable.
  •    Use fenders to deflect splashing water
They may not look like much, and they may rattle, but they are essential. Fenders will keep all the dirty water on the road away from you (wheels without fenders will spray water)

3. storm(strong wind)💨

  • Watch out for objects! Unidentified flying objects can be blown onto the road. These things can snag a wheel and cause a crash, or just knock you over. It's scary to have an object suddenly on top of you.
Small things like dust or sand can be blown into your eyes, so be sure to wear your glasses when riding in high winds. They also block the wind itself and reduce the amount of tearing that can make it difficult to see.
  • Stay loose. Keep your shoulders and elbows relaxed to help your bike stay on track in high winds. ...
  • Be careful going downhill. On steep, long descents, strong winds pose an additional hazard because you're going faster. ...
  • Stay prepared. Anticipate where the wind may hit you harder...

4. burning hot.

  • Be sure to bring enough water: Hot weather depletes the water molecules in your body at an accelerated rate, so you need enough water to replenish your consumption or you will suffer from dehydration, dizziness, and other symptoms.
  • Avoid sun exposure and plan your ride: Plan your ride ahead of time and try to find shade or something that will shade you and your bike, rather than riding in the sun, which can lead to sunburn.
  • Wear good sun protection: such as long sweat-absorbing sleeves, sunglasses, and a range of other sun protection items to ensure that your body is in a comfortable state while riding.
